초록(Abstract)
The Korea Nurses’ Health Study, a nationwide prospective cohort, provides unique insights into how lifestyle behaviors and occupational exposures shape the health of Korean female nurses. This presentation examines key risk and protective factors across the six pillars of Lifestyle Medicine— physical activity, healthy diet, sleep, stress management, connectedness, and avoidance of risky substances. Analyses reveal that sleep disturbances, irregular physical activity, and heightened stress are common among shift-working nurses, while dietary patterns such as soft-drink intake and late-evening caloric consumption increase metabolic risk. Occupational exposures to radiation, chemotherapy agents, and disinfectants also elevate health risks, particularly when combined with poor sleep or inadequate stress management. During pregnancy and postpartum periods, lifestyle behaviors strongly predict maternal mental health outcomes. Overall, female nurses’ health is jointly shaped by lifestyle factors and workplace conditions. These findings highlight the need for early, stage-specific Lifestyle Medicine interventions integrated with organizational safety systems. The Korea Nurses’ Health Study offers a robust evidence base for developing nurse-centered Lifestyle Medicine strategies in Korea.
